COMMUNITY ACCESS SERVICES
Community Access Services are designed to provide options for participants with disabling conditions who might otherwise have limited access to activities in their communities. These services are individualized and designed to enable the participant to pursue interests outside his or her home. Individuals are referred by their Developmental Disabilities Case Managers who determine eligibility for the services. Currently, Community Access Services are offered primarily through our Lewis County – Southwest Region locations.
Support is offered to encourage and teach independence as individuals become more involved in using their community resources. We encourage individualized activities when possible. When several individuals express an interest in a particular event, we support activities for small groups but limit them to four participants or fewer.
Participants are encouraged to become involved in clubs, associations and organizations that are a good match for them. We encourage participants to broaden their interests and participate in new activities along with continuing to do the things they already enjoy.
In the communities served by Morningside, participants who are under the age of 55 and not medically fragile are assisted in taking advantage of volunteer opportunities that have an employment path built in as part of the community access program.
