GROUP SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT
Group supported employment services are designed for eligible individuals who need significant support to work in the community. Based on individual preference and interests, these sites offer employment to no more than 8 participants with disabilities. Support by trained staff is provided at each site.
Eligibility for this service is determined by the Division of Developmental Disabilities with funding from county social services departments.
Currently available only in Thurston County, choices include janitorial in a variety of sites, retail store, clerical (document preparation), packaging and assembly and mailing services. Participants are either transported to sites or arrive independently using public transportation.
Participants are paid based on their productivity and Morningside adheres to the standards for sub-minimum wage determined by the federal Department of Labor.
The outcome of this service is for participants to move into individual employment and efforts to that end are consistently addressed. This is a program which supports individuals as they transition to the least restrictive employment setting and earning a competitive wage.
